Sustainability in practice

Wood origin

The term “sustainability” is not just an advertising slogan for Sudbrock, but daily practice. Wood from certified sustainable forestry is used for production. The wood species beech, maple, ash, cherry and oak come from local forests. In order to obtain first-class veneers, Managing Director Johannes Sudbrock selects each log himself. Quality and structure must meet the highest standards. This is because each tree gives the veneer its own individual structure, which the furniture must show to its best advantage.

Environmentally friendly surfaces

In production, we use environmentally friendly, solvent-free hydro UV water-based lacquers that create excellent surfaces. Solvent-free hydro UV water-based lacquer is used for almost all coloured lacquers. We use UV clear lacquer for all veneered furniture. The clear lacquer surface is applied in up to five coats with appropriate intermediate sanding. This creates an excellent depth effect.

Hydro UV paint means that the water is removed from the fresh lacquer under the influence of warm air. It is hardened with UV light.

We have been complying with the VOC Directive (Volatile Organic Compounds), i.e. the reduction plan for limiting emissions of volatile organic compounds, since 2008.

Conserve resources

Resources are always used sparingly. From the trunk to the smallest wood chip: we use one hundred percent of the raw material wood. Even wood waste from production is used. It serves as a source of energy for the new combined heat and power plant and is converted into valuable thermal energy. The company uses this heat for the production process and heats the production halls and offices in winter. We are convinced that practicing sustainability not only protects the environment, but also ensures that you can enjoy your furniture – with a clear conscience – for a long time to come.

Production depth

Thanks to our many specialists, we work with a special production depth of manufacture. From the purchase of round timber to the individual production steps and final assembly, we manufacture everything in our factory in Rietberg-Bokel. We source metal products such as hinges and fittings from selected manufacturers who have the same high quality standards as we do.

Veneer competence

For over 90 years, we have stood for “passion for wood”. This passion is reflected above all in the special wood competence that we have developed together with our employees over three generations. One of our specialties is the production of fine veneer patterns. Beautiful continuous grain patterns – across several front elements – give the furniture its unique look. Precision craftsmanship is also required when veneers are “cut”. The result is expressive mirror images: Unique pieces from nature’s treasure chest.
