CUBO – LIVING
January 2020
CUBO: the secret of the cubes
On the tracks of the cubists: with CUBO, SUDBROCK demonstrates the design versatility offered by the simple geometric shape of the cube. At the heart of the living program is a flexible modular piece of furniture – a cube with a simple basic shape that can be freely combined and equipped with functions. Countless types of wood and lacquer colours provide even more individuality. With its plain form, CUBO draws on the design principles of early 20th century modernism – but at the same time sets accents with its colours and surfaces: The new ribbed fronts, for example, are reminiscent of the artistic use of wood that was characteristic of mid-century design.
Purism with function
CUBO shares a purist form with the great designers of the time, which takes functionality into account. The body of CUBO offers customized storage space, for example with individual cable outlets. Beautiful things are on display when open – when closed, the sound system or crockery can be removed from view and made accessible again with one handle. The hinged fronts are also available as glass and sliding doors. Handles, top panels, plinths and feet are optional.
Woodworking à la SUDBROCK
The 45° mitre-cut body panels are precisely fitted, glued and sanded by hand with millimetre precision. This creates edges that can be perfectly lacquered or enable a continuous veneer pattern. SUDBROCK’s quality feature “mitred bodies” creates pure aesthetics – and is also the prerequisite for seamlessly lining up or stacking elements.
New: CUBO in grooved look
Lined surfaces are a new addition to the CUBO programme: Sudbrock is picking up on a trend theme with the grooved look for sideboards and highboards, wardrobes or sliding door shelves. The new design is manufactured entirely by Sudbrock and is available in oak, beech and walnut as well as in all lacquer shades. Any desired colour according to RAL, SIKKENS or NCS and many wood tones are possible at Sudbrock. The production of the three-dimensional fronts is deliberately designed to conserve resources and the wood versions are not based on solid wood, but on two layers of veneer. The products are always individually customized.
